Introduction to New iOS 18 Developer Betas

Apple has released another set of beta updates, including iOS 18 Developer Beta 8 (software build 22a5350a). This is an exciting development for Apple enthusiasts, providing a glimpse into the future functionalities that will be included in the stable version of iOS 18. The date for the stable release will be announced on September 9th during the Glowtime event, which will also unveil the iPhone 16 line, new Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch SE 3, and the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

Key Features of iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 3

For iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users in the U.S., iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 3 is now available. This update introduces the Apple Intelligence beta, offering an advanced preview of Apple’s AI initiative. One of the standout features is the “Clean Up” tool in the native Photos app, which allows users to remove distractions from photos. By leveraging AI, the software fills the empty space with textures that match the surrounding areas.

How to Use the Clean Up Feature

To use this feature, open the Photos app and select a photo. Press the three-slider Edit icon at the bottom and then tap on the new Clean Up tab. The first time you use it, you’ll need to wait for the software to load. Once ready, you can circle the unwanted object with your finger, and it will be removed within seconds. If you want to restore the erased item, simply tap the yellow Reset button located just under the Dynamic Island.

Who Can Access Apple Intelligence

Currently, Apple Intelligence requires an iPhone with 8GB of RAM, limiting it to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max units in the U.S. However, all four iPhone 16 models will support Apple Intelligence, which will be available once iOS 18.1 is launched, expected in October. To install any available iOS 18 Developer Beta, go to Settings > General > Software Update and follow the directions.
