A group of dedicated Diablo 4 treasure seekers has finally uncovered the secret ring they’ve been looking for since the game launched over a year ago. This discovery, long theorized but never proven, finally came to fruition through their diligent efforts. However, the ring, called the Ring of Misfortune, turned out to be quite disappointing in terms of its utility.
Uncovering the Mystery
The Not Finding A Cow Level Discord group solved one of Diablo 4’s longest-running mysteries. They unraveled a new event that rewarded them with rare lucky coins. By dropping these coins one-by-one into a wishing well, they triggered a meteor storm and each member received the elusive Ring of Misfortune.
To trigger this event, several prerequisites needed to be met: the group of five had to play as each class in the game, a greed shrine needed to be active while looting, and having a “lucky hit” stat of 50% or above greatly increased the chances of a lucky coin dropping.
The Journey to the Wishing Well
The event took place in the Scosglen area, where an unfortunate NPC soldier was butchered by monsters. With the greed shrine effect active, each player looted the NPC’s corpse and hoped for a lucky coin drop. Players Jimpen, Ecledia, Tweaked, Teire, and Raffi1337 finally completed the requirements and received the coins. They proceeded to the east of Cerrigar in Scosglen and dropped the coins into a wishing well.
The Ring of Misfortune
After the brief meteor shower, the Ring of Misfortune dropped. This ring, with a mediocre collection of stats, possesses a unique but ultimately detrimental effect: a ‘lucky hit’ modifier with up to a 100% chance to lose all of your resource. The ring’s stats include:

- 13.0% Resistance to All Elements
- 13 All Stats
- 13 Armor
- 13 Thorns
- 13 Maximum Life
- 13 Life per Second
This ring is unsellable, untradeable, and unsalvageable, meaning it’s stuck with the character forever. Despite its underwhelming abilities, its discovery has generated significant buzz within the Diablo 4 community.
