A Decade of Monster Hunting
Having immersed myself in the Monster Hunter series for over ten years, I’ve experienced both the growth of my skills and the bewildering progress of the community. I fondly remember my first encounter with a Tempered Gravios in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Back in 2015, my feeble attempts at felling this stone-plated beast often resulted in chaos and uncertainty, likely symbolized by my frantic weapon swings that could barely dent its rocky armor.
The Evolution of Hunting Skills
Fast forward to today, my prowess in Monster Hunter has vastly improved. In Wilds, I can now efficiently dismantle a Gravios, converting it into resources in a matter of mere minutes. This newfound capability brings me satisfaction, and I savor the triumph of mastering my craft. But just when I think I’m making progress, I see speedrunners achieving the seemingly impossible, like obliterating a Gravios in an astonishing 37 seconds. For those dedicated hunters, my time is merely child’s play.
A Lesson from the Speedrunners
Watching the incredible speedrun by YouTuber Hunter Aco leaves me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I am filled with terror at the sheer efficiency and power displayed; on the other, embarrassment looms large. As I analyze his technique, I realize that in my own hunts, I often fall into the trap of performing unnecessary actions, like dodging and counterattacking, rather than employing the full might of my heavy bowgun. Had I leveraged my skills more effectively, perhaps I could have been the one accomplishing such astonishing feats.
