The mad lads at New Blood have been hard at work, remastering ULTRAKILL even before its official release. After months of tantalizing teasers from lead developer Arsi “Hakita” Patala, we are now witnessing a significant transformation of this beloved boomer shooter. The early access version of ULTRAKILL has received a complete visual overhaul, enhancing nearly every level in the game.
A Closer Look at the Overhaul
While the latest batch of content, dubbed 2023’s Layer of Violence, still remains untouched, players can enjoy a revamped experience in the previous levels. This past May, Patala showcased the refreshed visuals for Level 1-1, Heart of the Sunrise, highlighting the improvements made by the talented team. “While our programmers are busy with major rewrites that will take a long time, me and 3D artist Victoria Holland are doing a visual pass on the old levels to get them up to par with the later ones,” Patala noted.
What’s Next for ULTRAKILL?
As New Blood continues to refine ULTRAKILL, players can anticipate some functional changes, albeit the fundamental geometry, layouts, and encounters remain largely intact. The goal is to enhance the gaming experience while retaining the core essence of what made ULTRAKILL fun to play.
