Another Year, Another Wait
This New Year brings with it the unrelenting anticipation for Hideo Kojima’s games and movies, particularly the enigmatic projects OD and Physint. While gaming enthusiasts had their hopes set high after the latest cryptic trailer featuring faces chatting away, it seems we’re now in a wait-and-see mode yet again, courtesy of some pesky industry strikes. The news broke via Kojima’s year-end Twitter post, making it clear that the delightful chaos of game development hasn’t spared his latest endeavors.
Strike Impact: An Inside Look
According to Kojima, the production landscape changed dramatically due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike that kicked off last July. He shared, “For OD, we developed the game and had actor and environment scanning, but in the second half of the year, scanning and filming were suspended due to the SAG strike.” The script for Physint, a project still under wraps and boasting the vague title as its only identity, has suffered similarly. It seems that even the might of Kojima isn’t immune to industry upheavals.
Death Stranding 2: Full Steam Ahead
Not all is gloom and doom in Kojima’s world, however. Death Stranding 2 remains unaffected, riding the wave of production exemption provided players met the one-year requirement before the strike. This is a beacon of hope for fans wrestling with the uncertainty of new content. But as exciting as the thought of smoother gameplay might be, the lack of concrete updates on Physint leaves us in a playful abyss. Perhaps, like a stealth action game, Kojima is just waiting for the right moment to strike back with astonishing revelations.
