Delves are one of the latest endgame activities introduced in the War Within expansion for World of Warcraft. These mini-dungeons can be completed solo, with the support of an NPC companion. Different tiers of delves provide varying difficulty levels, allowing players to choose their challenge.
Accessing Delves
Players can start participating in delves while leveling up, although higher difficulty tiers require reaching level 80. The initial NPC companion, Brann Bronzebeard, will grow stronger as players progress, and his benefits will transfer to any alternate characters (alts) as well. Delves offer a mix of puzzles, enemy encounters, and unique mechanics, reminiscent of Island Expeditions and Visions of N’Zoth.
Delve Locations and Mechanics
Delves are scattered across new zones in the expansion, marked by archway icons on the map. Some notable locations include:
- Isle of Dorn
- Earthcrawl Mines
- Fungal Folly
- Kriegval’s Rest
- The Ringing Deeps
- The Dread Pit
- The Waterworks
- Hallowfall
- Mycomancer Cavern
- Nightfall Sanctum
- The Sinkhole
- Skittering Breach
- Azj-Kahet
- The Spiral Weave
- Tak-Rethan Abyss
- The Underkeep
Each delve offers specific objectives and mechanics, such as carrying a candle to repel darkness. Completing a tier unlocks the next, provided the player has reached the maximum level.
Rewards from Delves
Rewards from delves vary but generally include gear, gold, and resonant crystals—currency used to purchase items from in-game vendors. At lower tiers, the gear isn’t a substitute for raiding equipment, but it can be competitive up to the heroic raiding level at tier 8. Additional rewards include a chance for gear from the Great Vault and seasonal rewards like transmog sets, toys, and mounts. Delves will also tie into world events, offering bonuses during active periods.
