Introduction to Radiant Echoes
The Radiant Echoes is the pre-patch event leading up to the release of the next World of Warcraft expansion, The War Within. The event starts on July 30 and continues until August 26, giving players ample time to participate and farm catch-up gear for their alternate characters. Notably, you do not need to own The War Within to take part in this event. Characters from level 10 to 70 can join, although only max-level players can access the weekly quest.
Radiant Echoes Locations
The Radiant Echoes event rotates between three distinct locations: Dustwallow Marsh in Kalimdor, Searing Gorge in the Eastern Kingdoms, and Dragonblight in Northrend. You can access these areas via portals from the Chamber of the Guardian in Broken Isles Dalaran. The currently active event zone will be highlighted with a glow, and it will also be displayed on your map.
How the Pre-Patch Event Works
The event unfolds in three phases. You can join at any point, but level 70 players can pick up a weekly quest from event NPCs in each zone. Phase one involves defeating Congealed Memories enemies scattered around the area, yielding Residual Memories, the event-specific currency. In phase two, players engage in various objectives like killing enemies, collecting items, or waking up NPCs. Completing six of these objectives triggers the final phase, where one of three bosses—Onyxia, Ragnaros, or the Lich King—spawns, depending on the zone. After defeating the boss, a portal appears to return you to Dalaran, though you can also choose to stay and continue farming Residual Memories.
Where to Spend Residual Memories
Residual Memories can be spent on various items from quartermasters in the different zones or from a vendor in Dalaran. Quartermasters offer catch-up gear, while the Dalaran vendor has pets and mounts available. The event NPCs are:
- Forgotten Hero (Dustwallow Marsh)
- Memory of a Duke (Searing Gorge)
- Echo of the Silver Hand (Dragonblight)
- Remembrancer Amuul (Dalaran, the Broken Isles)
Each NPC is uniquely located: Forgotten Hero is north of Stonemaul Ruins, Memory of a Duke is north of Blackrock Mountain, Echo of the Silver Hand is near Wyrmrest Temple, and Remembrancer Amuul is inside the Chamber of the Guardian in Dalaran.
