The Enigmatic Depths of Baldur’s Gate 3

There appears to be no end to the secrets embedded within Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s fascinating to think that billions of years from now, when the universe has reached its dark age, the final event might be someone sharing a Reddit post about some intricate combination of inputs that triggers Astarion to recite the entirety of John Galt’s speech.

The “Impossible” Scenes

Many scenes in Baldur’s Gate 3 are labeled as “impossible” in the game’s files and are dummied out of the final release. These include Karlach’s infamous fourth-wall break. These scenes are essentially marked as unachievable by a specific flag in the game files. However, a recent video by the YouTuber SlimX demonstrates that these scenes can be unlocked by setting that flag to “true.”

A Glimpse of the Unseen

This 15-minute video by SlimX reveals a variety of fully voiced interactions that Larian Studios never intended for players to experience. Examples include unique Shadowheart reactions when removed from the party, depending on your approval, and Minthara interrogating the player about sparing her life. Additionally, an end-scene where the party collectively bullies Gale offers a humorous touch. It’s a rare insight into scenes that were meant to remain hidden.

Unexpected Revelations

One of the intriguing parts of the video is a series of context-free lines from Gale at the camp. All other scenes provide full lines with evident context, but Gale’s lines are “Mystra” and “The Weave,” delivered with the composure of a court agent serving legal papers. This unusual presentation of Gale is both mystifying and entertaining.

With Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 in progress, it seems we are far from uncovering all the secrets that Larian Studios has woven into this intricate game. For those endlessly curious about the depth of Baldur’s Gate 3, SlimX’s video is certainly worth watching.
