Introduction to the Earthen
The Earthen are a new allied race introduced in World of Warcraft’s expansion, The War Within. Resembling the Alliance Dwarves, they offer a unique twist by allowing players to choose between siding with the Alliance or the Horde when creating their Earthen character. This flexibility sets them apart from other allied races introduced in previous expansions like Legion or Battle for Azeroth.
How to Unlock Earthen in The War Within
Unlocking the Earthen requires completing specific objectives within The War Within expansion. According to the in-game achievement, you must complete the following storylines:
- The War Within Campaign

There are no stated reputation requirements for unlocking the Earthen. However, the campaign will take some time to complete, regardless of how quickly you reach level 80. Similar to other allied races, you will gain access to their heritage armor once your character reaches level 50.

Earthen Racial Abilities
Racial abilities provide specific advantages tailored to each race. While they have become less impactful over the years, it is still beneficial to understand what each ability offers. The Earthen racial abilities include:
- Azerite Surge: Draw upon your inner strength to invoke the power of Azerite, dealing fire damage in a cone in front of you. This is an empowered spell that gains additional effects as you empower it.
- Hyper Productive: Increases finesse by 2%, enhancing the chance of gathering additional materials.
- Ingest Minerals: You are always well-fed but cannot consume food. Consuming a Khaz Algar gem changes the well-fed benefit based on the type of gem consumed (e.g., Amber for stamina, Emerald for haste).
- Titan-Wrought Frame: Increases the base armor from equipped items by 10%.
- Wide-Eyed Wonder: Provides 200% additional exploration experience when you gain experience for exploring a location.
These racial abilities can offer slight advantages in specific scenarios, depending on your chosen class and playstyle.
