The long-running saga of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2’s development is going to continue for a while longer, it turns out. Originally expected this year, the RPG has faced several delays, a temporary shelving, and a new developer. Now, The Chinese Room and Paradox Interactive have announced another delay, pushing the release date back until 2025.

Development Update

In a video published today, Creative Director Alex Skidmore and Paradox’s Deputy CEO Mattias Lilja provided an update on the game’s development. They aimed to assure fans that things were progressing well but acknowledged that the game needed more time. “Our team at The Chinese Room will make the most of this additional time to ensure polish and quality,” Skidmore noted.

What’s Changing?

Skidmore mentioned that several team members would be ready earlier, allowing them to work on passion projects. This includes adding more endings to make the game a more personal story. While this decision seems risky given the game’s troubled development history, improvements over the last seven months may justify this expanded scope. The additional time will also be used to adjust certain areas and characters based on community feedback, applying another coat of polish.

Future Communications

The announcement comes during a tumultuous period for publisher Paradox, following indefinite delays for titles such as Prison Architect 2 and Life by You. However, Lilja assured that Bloodlines 2 would not go radio silent. The Chinese Room and Paradox will continue to provide frequent updates, including developer diaries and deep dives. The first half of 2025 has been set as the new release window, offering fans a timeline to look forward to.
