The Return of Wilmot: A Leisurely Puzzle Experience
Ultra-chill puzzle game Wilmot’s Warehouse is getting an even more laid-back sequel. This time, the titular character Wilmot ditches work to spend time at home doing jigsaw puzzles. The original game garnered a neat reputation for its relaxing organization puzzles, in which players stacked objects around a factory floor. While there was a tacit goal of optimizing the warehouse to be as efficient as possible, it was up to the player how they chose to arrange the space.
Introducing Wilmot Works It Out
The sequel, titled Wilmot Works It Out, continues the series’ organizational puzzling theme. Instead of arranging objects around a warehouse, you’ll be piecing together jigsaw puzzles that are delivered to Wilmot via mail. The game will feature sixty unique puzzles for players to complete, which can then be hung around Wilmot’s house in picture frames. As players progress, more sections of the house get unlocked, along with additional customization items to decorate Wilmot’s home.
Developer’s Previous Endeavors
Although this is Wilmot’s first digital outing since 2019, developers Richard Hogg and Hollow Ponds have been busy. In 2020, Hogg released I Am Dead, a puzzle adventure about a deceased museum curator and his (also dead) dog trying to prevent a volcano from erupting. Earlier this year, Hogg released Flock, an open-ended adventure game where you fly around on a giant bird collecting other airborne critters. Flock’s laid-back adventure was well-received, with PC Gamer writer Kara Phillips praising its exploration and collection mechanics.
What to Expect and Release Date
Wilmot Works It Out is set to continue this trend of relaxing, engaging gameplay. The game is set to release on October 23, just two months away. For those eager to dive in early, a demo is available now for players to check out and get a taste of the new puzzles and home customization features awaiting them.
