Rethinking Blood: Total War’s Decision
In a recent blog post, Roger Collum, Vice President of Total War, shared some exciting news for fans of the series. It’s a bit of a shakeup: the practice of selling blood packs as DLC will come to an end. Players no longer need to purchase that crimson DLC to add a sprinkle of gore to their tactical escapades!
From Bloodless to Brutal
The previous approach kept age ratings in check, allowing Total War games to be enjoyed by a broader audience. However, as Collum noted, it became somewhat of an absurdity. After all, who doesn’t want their soldiers to look like they’re straight out of a high-stakes fantasy battle? Going forward, any Total War titles that warrant a bit of bloodshed will feature it as a base element.
The Future is Bright for Total War Fans
What else can fans of the franchise expect? Collum hinted at several future changes, but the end of the blood pack policy certainly tops the list. As the team strives to make the game as engaging as possible, they’re eager to involve the community in these changes. Although it’s impossible to please every player, the commitment to improving the franchise is clear. And who knows? If rumors about a Total War: Star Wars game are true, it might just be one epic battle without blood. However, one can only dream about the chaos that would ensue in Total War: Warhammer 40,000!
