Get Ready for a New Adventure
At the recent triple-i showcase, the excitement surrounding Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core reached new heights! The developers at Ghost Ship Games unveiled a shiny new gameplay trailer and let slip that a closed alpha test on Steam is “starting soon.” For fans eagerly awaiting this co-op shooter, this news is like finding a rare gem in a cave full of alien nasties.
What’s New in Rogue Core?
Set in the cavernous depths filled with all sorts of extraterrestrial adversaries, Rogue Core takes the beloved mechanics of the original Deep Rock Galactic and sprinkles in a roguelite twist. Players begin missions with a basic loadout and, as they delve deeper into the multi-stage runs, they can upgrade their gear, gain new abilities, and really get under the skin of those pesky alien critters. Note that while the game features roguelite elements, it’s critical to remember that there’s a difference: players can expect permanent progression between missions rather than resetting entirely.
Meet the New Classes
Smartly anticipating player demand for variety, Rogue Core introduces four new classes, each sounding a tad more exotic than the classic lineup. Encounter the Falconeer, slicing through foes as if they’re delicious cake, the Slicer who specializes in offensive assaults, the Spotter who can pinpoint the most vulnerable targets, and finally, the Guardian, ever-vigilant, ready to sweep in and protect players from the lurking horrors of the core. Plus, more classes are en route as the game evolves.
As we await the early access launch expected by the end of 2025, don’t forget to register for that closed alpha! If you’re keen to take part, you can find the registration link on the Steam page. Let’s hope the timeline stays true, but remember, it’s best not to hold your breath while navigating these cave systems!
