ESL FACEIT Group’s gaming festival brand DreamHack has announced a new edition set to take place in Stockholm, Sweden next year.
Called DreamHack Stockholm, the event will see DreamHack return to Sweden’s capital in November 2024 after several years of visiting other Swedish and global cities.
Although little is known about the upcoming event, the organisers did share that it will take place at the Stockholmsmässan, the city’s international fairground which hosts the likes of the Stockholm Design Week, the Swedish Boat Show and other large-scale trade shows and events in different areas.
This is not DreamHack’s first venture into Stockholm, with the brand previously hosting a DreamHack Masters event in 2018.
The organisers noted that well-known Nordic electronics retailer Elgiganten will be the presenting partner for the event.
Elgiganten’s Gaming Lead Alexander Åberg said that the fact that the festival will take place in the country’s capital means that a larger amount of people will be able to experience what it has to offer.
The move to Stockholm means that Jönköping, a city that traditionally hosted the DreamHack Winter events (the latest one being held this year), will host DreamHack Summer 2024 instead, an event taking place in June 2024.
ESL FACEIT Group announced that, while the festival’s focus will be on LAN parties, gaming and esports, various other activations and events will take place during it, including music acts and parties. This is similar to other DreamHack events in the past, which always served as a crossroads between gaming and popular culture.
