Introduction to the AI Changes
Creative Assembly has taken significant steps to enhance the campaign AI in Total War: Warhammer 3, addressing an issue that has caused the AI to react defensively. Starting in the upcoming beta, launching on February 13, players will experience a more proactive AI that avoids overly cautious tendencies.
Understanding the Bug
During their recent analysis, the development team discovered an intriguing bug that misled the campaign AI when it encountered enemy heroes. Radoslav Borisov, a principal technical designer at Creative Assembly Sofia, explained that the AI’s query system was overly sensitive. It would overreact to the presence of even a single hero, prompting immediate defensive measures.
The Impact of the Update
This fix is set to transform the strategic landscape of gameplay in Total War: Warhammer 3. Previously, players may have noticed enemy factions abruptly halting their advances, driven purely by the presence of scouts or heroes in their territory. By correcting this flaw, factions will shift towards a more offensive posture, reallocating resources that were unnecessarily focused on defense. Expect a more dynamic and engaging experience as the AI adapts to real threats rather than pulling back at the first sign of a hero.
