An Impressive Mod with Performance Hurdles
Fallout: London has captured attention for its ambitious scope and impressive design, but according to PCG writer Joshua Wolens, it comes with its share of performance issues and bugs. One of the most notable problems players have encountered is the infamous “train crash” bug, which not only crashes the game but also inexplicably halves players’ HP.
The Train Crash Bug
The “train crash” bug has been a prevalent issue reported by many players. As outlined by project manager Dean Carter in an interview with VG247, the team hadn’t encountered such bugs during testing. “The issue with the train crash is quite a known one,” Carter mentions, emphasizing that this problem was unexpected and has been a surprise to the developers.
Efforts to Address the Issues
The Fallout: London development team, known as Team Folon, has promised to release a comprehensive hotfix to address these performance issues. One of the planned solutions includes integrating the Buffout 4 mod, which enhances game stability. “Since we’ve released, obviously, they’re more inclined to want to work with us now,” Carter explains, referring to getting permission to utilize the Buffout 4 mod.
Temporary Solutions
While waiting for the hotfix, players are advised to consult the solutions megathread put together by Team Folon. Some issues can be mitigated by following the correct download steps. Immediate fixes for the HP bug caused by the train crash involve completing some in-game math assignments, as a temporary workaround.
Ultimately, despite its current challenges, Fallout: London promises a rich expansion of the Fallout universe, provided players can navigate the existing bugs and performance issues.
