Sims 4 Patch Fixes Romance Bugs
When players asked for more interesting lives for their Sims, they certainly didn’t mean incestuous relationships. Nor did EA intend for this, so a recent Sims 4 patch has addressed the sudden tendency for Sims to pursue romance with their relatives. The issue emerged following the release of the romance-focused expansion, Lovestruck, and a base game update last week.
Addressing Mean Sims and Illicit Relationships
Two prominent issues cropped up after the update: Sims being excessively mean to each other for no apparent reason and Sims developing illicit relationships with family members. These problems arose through the “Neighborhood Stories” feature, which allows Sims outside your played family to experience life milestones autonomously. While this feature is designed to create a dynamic and lively neighborhood, it led to some unintended and inappropriate scenarios.
An End to Forbidden Crushes
Your Sims should now be safe from such forbidden crushes. According to the Sims 4 patch notes, specific to the Lovestruck expansion, “Sims no longer receive inappropriate phone calls from relatives.” This recent hotfix was implemented on Friday for PC players and yesterday for console players, aiming to keep everyone equally safe from these unusual romance dynamics.
Managing Neighborhood Stories
If you’ve never explored Neighborhood Stories, you can find this feature in the “Manage Households” menu by clicking the diverging arrows symbol. Here, you can enable or disable autonomous changes for other Sim families. The “Romance Changes” toggle should now be safe to enable. For those who’ve been hesitant to download the latest game update due to concerns about new bugs, EA has reassured players that they are committed to fixing troubling issues.
