Minimum System Requirements

With two weeks to go before the arrival of Star Wars Outlaws—August 30 is the big day—Ubisoft has revealed the official PC system requirements. The minimum visual settings require 1080p/30 fps with a low preset and upscaler set to quality. You’ll need a GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, AMD RX 5600 XT 6GB, or Intel Arc A750 8GB (Rebar ON) GPU, alongside an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, and 16GB of RAM in dual-channel mode. The game will also require Windows 10/11 with DirectX 12 and 65GB of SSD storage.

Recommended and Enthusiast Settings

For recommended visual settings, which offer 1080p/60 fps at high preset with an upscaler set to quality, you’ll need a GeForce RTX 3060 8GB, AMD RX 6700 XT 12GB GPU, Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, and 16GB of RAM. The enthusiast settings push the visuals up to 1440p/60 fps with a high preset. Suitable hardware includes a GeForce RTX 4070 12GB, AMD RX 6800 XT 16GB GPU, Intel Core i5-11600K, or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU, and 16GB of RAM.

Ultra Settings and PC-Specific Features

The ultra visual settings demand the most powerful hardware, requiring 4K/60 fps with an ultra preset. This setup needs a GeForce RTX 4080 16GB, AMD RX 7900 XTX 24GB GPU, Intel Core i7-12700K, or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU, and 16GB of RAM. Ubisoft has also integrated various PC-specific features, including ray-traced global illumination, reflections, and shadows. Other features include Nvidia RTX dynamic illumination support, Nvidia DLSS 3.5, Intel XeSS 1.3, and AMD FSR 3.0 for upscaling and frame generation, uncapped frame rates, 21:9 cinematic display mode, multi-monitor, and ultrawide support.

Concluding Thoughts

One interesting aspect of these system requirements is the reliance on upscaling technologies such as DLSS, FSR, or other methods to meet frame rate targets, indicating that upscaling is becoming the new norm even at minimum settings. If you plan to dive into Star Wars Outlaws, it’s worth considering the “recommended” specs as the true entry point, at least until more performance reviews are available post-launch. The game launches on August 30 on the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store. Early access is available by purchasing the Gold or Ultimate Edition, which also includes the season pass and extra cosmetics.
