Understanding the Rise of Scam Calls
Have you ever felt the anxiety of answering your phone, unsure if it is a legitimate call or yet another scam? It’s becoming increasingly common for individuals to receive calls that turn out to be spammy nonsense. Google aims to alleviate these concerns by incorporating in-call scam detection technology into its Pixel Watch.
Google’s Innovative Scam Detection Feature
After successfully debuting AI-powered scam detection on Pixel phones, Google is now integrating this feature within the Pixel Watch lineup. Users can expect real-time scam alerts directly on their wrist, providing a layer of protection during phone calls. This feature emits a noticeable beep at the beginning of the call, and intermittently afterward, to signal potential scam activity.
Requirements and Setup for Users
To take advantage of this feature, ensure that you own a Pixel Watch 2 or Watch 3, and that your device is paired via Bluetooth with a Pixel 9 series phone. Currently, this functionality is exclusive to users in the US and only supports English-language calls. It’s essential to keep your watch within Bluetooth range of your phone to receive alerts effectively.
Activating the scam detection is easy: simply update your Pixel phone’s app to the latest version, navigate to settings, and enable the scam detection toggle. Once activated, the system operates discreetly in the background, keeping you informed while enhancing your call experience.
